Can you buy happiness?
Many of us fantasise about what we would do if we were to win the Lottery this week, but could spending the money you do have on the right things make your happier? You work hard to earn your money, so your earnings should allow you to enjoy your life and spend time doing the things you want to.
A recent study by the National Study of Sciences*, showed that using our hard-earned money to free up time, increases our happiness and personal wellbeing.
How often do you spend time doing a task when you would rather be doing something else? Maybe paying for these tasks to be done for you is the answer to increasing your happiness. A great example of this is cleaning. Not many of us enjoy cleaning, so you could pay a cleaner to free up this time and increase your wellbeing and life satisfaction.
Our natural instinct makes it hard for us to pay for things that we know we could do ourselves. Sometimes though, it is important to weigh up what you would be spending out with what you will get back in time and enjoyment.
Although saving is extremely important and provides us with mental health benefits such a sense of security that reduces stress, you can still spend money on some luxuries to improve your quality of life.
By saving responsibly and budgeting, you should be able to spend on the things which will bring you happiness.
